This one was set to run during NA East Coast prime time with some slight overlap over the rest of the continent. It's literally impossible for us to schedule every event so every interested person could attend. True, but so far every event has been scheduled so I cannot attend.
Every. Single. One.
(US west coast).
Also, if you do not use devhax, you got to plan every live event under the assumption that the actor's ships will be destroyed. What is their survival rate? 1%? Less? That means every single live event has the same summary: "The NPCs showed up and were destroyed." If the result of player interaction is the same every single time, there is no reason to have the event. You really got an issue here: Use devhax and the result is known: all ships survive. Dont use devhax and the result is known: All ships are destroyed. You need to find some way for the result to be uncertain. This means you need to have a way for players playing on the side of the NPCs to defend the NPC against an alpha strike suicide gank. For example, remote shield extenders, remote resistance amplifiers. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

No, we are saying that when you show up to troll a live event, don't claim to be role playing when you showed up to do nothing but troll. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

No, we are saying that when you show up to troll a live event, don't claim to be role playing when you showed up to do nothing but troll. But isn't he actually roleplaying then? Most players play a role with their character, within the world of New Eden, without caring for lore or such. Just like on earth there are people that live their lives without any idea about politics and history. If you say "I'm going to rat a bit in lowsec today" or "It's hotdrop o'clock!".. that fits perfectly within eve... that goes for most interaction - with exceptions of course. You are not _actually_ flying a spaceship and killing pirates. You are playing a character that does so. Not when your actions are directed at the player rather than the character the player is role playing. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

There is another issue concerning the use of Devhax. The Tempest Tribal Issue ships themselves were created via Dev powers. They could have simply let them explode, warp the pod back to the starting station (or use a med clone if needed, after buying a new one with dev created ISK), hop in another Dev created TTI and started out again. Eventually the gankers will run out of ships. The Devs will never run out of ships.
How many Dev created ships can they use before its "Blocking players from having an effect"? Twenty? Ten? Two? http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

But that's something that helps one person (and only one) help everyone in the fleet. How about the other way, something that allows many people to cooperate and help one person? An example is remote reps. But those do not help against an alpha strike, or most suicide ganks because the deed is done before the repper cycles.
A Remote Shield Extender would allow several escort ships defend one VIP against a gank.
Edit: One issue with such a module: Would there be an armor equivalent? If not large fleet armor tanking will die. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

Sakura Nihil wrote:Think the answer lays somewhere between "unkillable" and "normal ship".
They're representatives of their tribes, tribes which do have enemies and thus need to take precautions. Just as heads of state and VIPs travel around the world in armored vehicles with escorts, I would think that a Tempest FI buffed up to maybe 300-500 kEHP would be beefy enough yet vulnerable, in case someone's realllly motivated to gank it.
You know, make people work for it, but make it possible. Sufficient ships were brought to to gank a 500kEHP target. And in any future event like this, that level of gankage can be expected to show up again. Every single time. Which means without CCP using Devhax of some sort, the outcome is already known. Its a cutscene. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |
